Description
Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, is the number one destination for a captivating excursion into the animal kingdom, offering a unique combination of cultural heritage and nature 365 days a year. Part of Schönbrunn palace and gardens – a former imperial residence on UNESCO’s World Heritage List – Schönbrunn is the world’s oldest zoo, home to over 700 species – including endangered animals – and has been named Europe’s best zoo six times in a row.
A trip to Schönbrunn zoo is a voyage of discovery into the natural world in all its rich diversity. Visitors have the chance to watch many of the animals at feeding time, finding out fascinating facts in the process. For an extra-special day out, take one of the varied tours or a ride on the Schönbrunn Panorama Train.

A zoo ticket is valid for one admission within a year of the purchase date
Entry to the Desert House (Wüstenhaus) is not included in a ticket for Schönbrunn Zoo as it is not part of the main zoo.

Ticket office closing time and last admission is 30 minutes before the zoo closes.
Further information
The majority of facilities at Schönbrunn Zoo are barrier-free. Disabled parking spaces are available in the Seckendorff-Gudent-Weg car park next to the Tirolergarten entrance to the Zoo. The path from the Tirolergarten entrance down to the main part of the zoo is very steep and is not suitable for wheelchair users. It is therefore recommended that wheelchair users take the tree-top trail (Baumkronenpfad). Please note that it is sometimes necessary to close this trail due to weather conditions.
There are disabled toilet facilities with barrier-free access in the ORANG.erie, the elephant house, the rainforest house, the big cat house and the Tirolerhof farmhouse.
A Euro toilet key is required to use the disabled toilets at the Hietzing and Neptune Fountain entrances. A key can be borrowed from the ticket offices at these locations.

Entrances
The main Hietzing entrance is close to the Hietzing U4 underground station. For this entrance, enter the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace via the Hietzinger Tor gate and follow the path past the Palm House and the Desert House.
There is a car park on Seckendorff-Gudent-Weg at the Tirolerhof entrance. This is about five minutes on foot from the Gloriette building in the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace, which is on the same elevation.
There is also an entrance to the zoo at the Neptune Fountain located within the palace grounds.

By car
A limited number of parking spaces are available at the Seckendorff-Gudent-Weg car park at the Tirolergarten entrance. There are also two park and ride sites only a few underground stations from the zoo.
The Grand Tour of the palace includes forty rooms. As well as the state rooms and private apartments of the imperial couple Franz Joseph and Elisabeth you will also see the precious eighteenth-century interiors from the time of Maria Theresa.
